POWER OVER ETHERNET GROWS STRENGTH

The IEEE 802.3 standard describes how connected objects are power supplied by a data cable (Power over Ethernet or PoE). It has recently expanded its scope of application. This new normative evolution, the HiPoE, highlights two main improvements:

  • The first increases the power transferred to connected objects, and the limit jumps from 30W to 90W.
  • The second one increases the transfer speed to 10Gb/s on a Cat5e cable.

Hi-PoE extends the power supply to many energy-consuming IoT applications and provides a significant gain in power, speed and therefore efficiency.

This opens up new perspectives for SLAT products equipped with this new technology. The SYNAPS products range, adapted to the Smart City ecosystem, acts as an interface with connected objects and ensures their protection against physical and electrical aggressions. With HiPoE, this range is especially chosen for embedded intelligence cameras, or power demanding dome cameras.

The SDC-PoE range of products makes building network infrastructures more reliable. Many applications on PoE are present in health care facilities: video protection, access control to patient rooms, buildings, staff areas…
The SDC-PoE product range includes HiPoE function for critical applications, requiring higher power, such as nurse call system, fall detector and other medical equipment. Concerned about the well-being of care teams and patients, the reliability of SLAT equipments will prevent any stress related to equipment malfunctions due to disturbances in the electrical network.
