The IEEE 802.3 standard describes how connected objects are power supplied by a data cable (Power over Ethernet or PoE). It has recently expanded its scope of application. This new normative evolution, the HiPoE, highlights two main improvements:
- The first increases the power transferred to connected objects, and the limit jumps from 30W to 90W.

The second one increases the transfer speed to 10Gb/s on a Cat5e cable.
Hi-PoE extends the power supply to many energy-consuming IoT applications and provides a significant gain in power, speed and therefore efficiency.
This opens up new perspectives for SLAT products equipped with this new technology. The SDC-PoE product range includes HiPoE function for critical applications, requiring higher power, such as nurse call system, fall detector and other medical equipment.
